We can help you through….

A loved one’s death often leaves us distraught and disoriented.  If you’re responsible for administering the estate, the task can seem overwhelming.  The law office of Mary Ann Dalton can help by taking care of the estate administration duties for you.  We can:

  Prepare all needed documentation
  Deal with creditors
  Attend all court appearances
  Find lost or misappropriated assets
Make the final distribution of the estate

Estate Administration is the process where the court monitors the gathering of assets of a deceased person, the payments of their debts and the distribution of the remaining assets to the beneficiaries of the deceased person’s beneficiaries.

Probate is the re-titling of property from the name of the deceased person into the name of one or more of the beneficiaries.  In North Carolina, there are three different types of probate: Disposition without administration (for persons dying with little assets), summary administration (for people dying with little money and only a spouse as a beneficiary), and formal administration.  Mary Ann Dalton can help your family decide which type of probate is appropriate.

Resolving family disputes

The loss of a loved one often becomes more difficult when family disputes occur.  Mary Ann Dalton uses the principles of collaborative law and dispute resolution to attempt to resolve will contests and family arguments regarding your loved one’s property.
